When we told you about the shocking abuse being committed by Mike and Heather Martin on their “DaddyoFive” channel, we had no idea the controversy would change things so quickly.
At the time it was just YouTube viewers and creators noticing these so-called “pranks” — which mostly involved screaming at and intimidating 9-year-old son Cody as fake punishment — were indistinguishable from very real child abuse.
But thankfully someone had already been on the case — Cody and Emma‘s biological mother. Rose Hall says she has been trying to get Child Protective Services to investigate the couple since last October after seeing their “heartbreaking and disturbing” videos. Finally the public outcry allowed her to get emergency custody.
Along with custody lawyer Tim Conlon, she announced the legal decision — well, on YouTube. She said:
“They’re doing good. They’re getting back to their playful selves.”
We’re happy to hear it.
Hall also says Mike and Heather shouldn’t have had full custody of the children in the first place — but that they forged her name on legal documents. Another strong accusation, but not something we would put past them at this point. Maybe they’ll claim they were “pranking” the government.
