Mexican Superstar Luis Miguel Arrested

A lot of people want to see Luis Miguel in court.

That list now includes the U.S. Marshals’ Office, who arrested the Mexican singer on Tuesday after he repeatedly failed to appear in court over a breach of contract lawsuit!

According to Telemundo 51, Los Angeles federal Judge Virginia Phillips issued a warrant for El Sol de México on April 17 after the Grammy-winner skipped his third court hearing.

The 47-year-old was avoiding a legal battle with former manager William Brockhaus, who filed a lawsuit last year claiming Miguel screwed him out of a compensation agreement.

The suit alleges that Miguel owed Brockhaus — who represented the Sue├â┬▒a singer from 2013 to 2015 — over $1 million in commission, not to mention interest and attorney’s fees.

After the Latin superstar failed to make payments on his debt, Judge Phillips ordered seizure of Miguel’s luxury Rolls Royce in January.

The U.S. Marshal’s Headquarters Office of Public Affairs confirmed Miguel was arrested on Tuesday after turning himself in at the downtown courthouse prior to a court date, saying in a statement:

“Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri self-surrendered for his court appearance today and has since been released on bond.

This breach of contract is only the latest litigation Miguel is facing — in January, he was sued for breach of contract by Mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez after Miguel pulled out of an already-announced joint tour.

Warner Mexico, Miguel’s record label, is also reportedly suing Mariah Carey‘s ex for allegedly failing to pay back a nearly $4 million loan from 2014. Yikes.

The singer is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles federal court on Tuesday.
