Is this even possible??
As we previously reported, American Idol is eyeing a comeback on ABC, rather than on its former network FOX. Obviously, many people can’t imagine the singing competition returning to the small screen without the show’s longtime host, Ryan Seacrest. The only the problem is, Mr. Seacrest lives in NYC now because of his new Live! gig with Kelly Ripa.
And while it seems impossible for the 42-year-old to sign onto ANOTHER job, it’s said ABC has reached out to the production company behind AI and asked if the reality show could be based in NYC this time around. Huh.
According to TMZ, ABC spoke with Fremantle about relocating the show, but the production company snapped back that it HAD to be filmed in El Lay. We mean, it’s not American Idol unless someone’s being told they’re “going to Hollywood.”
So, Ryan is out?? WRONG.
Apparently, Fremantle also wants the TV personality to return and has suggested that ABC allow American Idol to air on Sunday evenings. This suggestion reportedly works for Ryan, and here’s why…
Reports claim the A-lister could pre-tape his Friday shows with Ripa and hop on a private jet on Thursday evenings to be in El Lay to prep for Idol. During the 10 weeks Idol is live, Seacrest can film the show at 5 p.m. PST (8 p.m. EST) in order to be back in NYC by 3 a.m. EST.
Supposedly, this intense schedule won’t affect the media expert’s radio show. Of course, all this planning is for nothing if ABC doesn’t agree to air the show on Sundays. Sources claim the network wants Idol to run on Mondays so that it can go up against The Voice.
Hmmmm, we guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Ryan does — although, with upfronts around the corner, we have a feeling we’ll have an answer sooner than later!
