Jimmy Fallon is an open book lately!
Fallon admitted he was “devastated” by the outrage over his friendly interview with the soon-to-be POTUS last fall, admitting he was “just trying to have fun.”
Speaking of a good time, the comedian also addressed rumors of his partying ways in the same interview — and he wasn’t thrilled about reports saying his drinking was spiraling “out of control.”
The 42-year-old shrugged off the rumors with a simple fact: there’s no way he can be the peppy Tonight Show host five nights a week while simultaneously getting smashed every night. He explained:
“I could never do a day-to-day job if I was drinking every night. That’s just kicking you when you’re down.”
Good to know he’s not a high-functioning alcoholic!
While those rumors might bother him, there’s one thing the late night host doesn’t seem to care about — The Tonight Show‘s ratings plummeting with viewers switching over to Stephen Colbert‘s more political Late Show.
Fallon took the subject lightly, quipping:
“We’re winning in something. People in the height requirement between 5-7 and 5-11, we’re No. 1, from 11:50 to 11:55. I never, ever care. I’ll know when someone fires me.”
Sounds like all Jimmy cares about is giving his audience laughs — gotta love him for that!
