Well, no wonder Kathy Griffin apologized!

As you surely know, the comedienne made headlines on Tuesday when footage of her controversial photoshoot with photographer Tyler Shields hit the internet. People were particularly pissed at Miz Griffin as, during the shoot with Shields, the funny lady was featured holding Donald Trump‘s bloody, severed head.

At first, the 56-year-old stood by the footage as she claimed she was “merely mocking the Mocker in Chief.” However, Griffin has since backtracked her stance on the now viral image. Why??

Probably because ever since the photo hit the web, Kathy’s reportedly been under investigation by the Secret Service. Yeah, that makes sense, the Secret Service aren’t known for their sense of humor. According to TMZ sources, the federal law enforcement agency has launched an investigation into “the circumstances surrounding the photo shoot.” It’s said the Secret Service will likely try to interview both My Life On The D-List star and Shields.

Thankfully, it sounds like the security experts aren’t jumping to any conclusions as they are keeping a neutral stance while investigating the situation. Not to mention, it isn’t unusual for the Secret Service to get involved when the President is seemingly threatened — joke or otherwise.

And just in case you don’t think the Secret Service is serious about protecting POTUS, just take a look at the stern warning they issued on Twitter (below)!

Also, the Secret Service serves the Commander-In-Chief, who is MORE THAN PISSED about the photoshoot. On Wednesday, the Celebrity Apprentice star commented on the controversial pic as he wrote:

Oh shoot. The Trumpster’s son, Donald Trump Jr., also weighed in on this controversy as he added online:

Eek. Hopefully, Kathy has a good lawyer on hand… because it looks like she may need it!
