Chris Cornell‘s family must be going through an incredibly difficult time.
As you surely know, fans were left in shock after the rock legend took his own life back in May. Despite the medical examiner’s conclusion that the Soundgarden frontman killed himself, it appears as though Cornell’s family is struggling to accept this ruling.
How do we know this?? Well, Chris’ family is still requesting answers from the City of Detroit about the specifics surrounding the rocker’s death. According to TMZ, the Can’t Change Me singer’s loved ones had their lawyer send a Freedom of Information request to the city as they wanted to get their hands on the police and toxicology reports.
Sadly, the Cornell family’s request was denied as Chris’ passing is still “an open investigation” and the city believes releasing info would “compromise and/or interfere with their investigation.” Obviously, this update has left the Cornells baffled as the M.E. announced Chris died via suicide before the completion of a full autopsy. Talk about a complicated situation.
The rock star’s widow, Vicky Karayiannis, noted in a statement:
“We still have several unanswered questions about what led to his death. We believe the toxicology report will answer these questions.”
Hopefully, those who were close to Chris can get some closure sooner rather than later.
