Celebs Wearing Orange For National Gun Violence Awareness Day

no title

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

We know sometimes it feels like there’s nothing one person can do in the face of tragedy after tragedy, but thanks to non-profit Everytown for Gun Safety, we now have a strong symbolic act. And it’s easy.

Just the simple act of wearing orange, and letting everyone — including you local legislators — know exactly why you’re doing it.

Many celebs have shown their support with some bright outfits to shine a light on a subject no one wants to talk about in the absence of a tragedy and no one wants to talk about in one’s wake.

See why Lena Dunham, Elizabeth Banks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Kim Kardashian West‘s avatar, and more decided to #WearOrange (below)!

And of course, we had to show our support!

Some politicians got in on the act too:

But leading the charge was not a political activist; it was acclaimed actress Julianne Moore, who posted multiple photos highlighting real victims of gun violence.

Finally, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention some folks who aren’t wearing orange but chose instead to use their voices in another way — by participating in a pop/rock concept album called GUNS.

With the help of Eric McCormack, Terrence Mann, Frances Fisher, and more, GUNS will touch on many angles of America’s relationship with its 300 million firearms.

See the striking teaser (below)!

The album launches on June 22, with proceeds going to Everytown.

How will you chow your support for smarter gun control laws??
