Kathy Griffin can’t catch a break.
As you surely know, the fallout from the comedienne’s controversial photoshoot (where she held a bloody, severed head that looked an awful lot like Donald Trump) has been non-stop. After footage from her picture-taking session with photographer Tyler Shields hit the internet earlier this week, the My Life on the D-List star has been hit with some serious blows.
Not only is Miz Griffin reportedly at the center of a Secret Service probe, but the funny lady has lost out on several gigs because of the controversy. As we previously reported, the Route 66 Casino straight up canceled Kathy’s July 22 performance mere hours after her photoshoot went viral.
And it seems like several venues are following the casino’s lead, as FOUR other places have pulled the plug on Griffin-related gigs. According to TMZ, the 56-year-old’s Celebrity Run-In Tour stops at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island and the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ have both been axed. Two scheduled performances in California have also been canceled.
On why they decided to distance themselves from Kathy, the St. George Theatre noted in a statement:
“Ms. Griffin’s recent actions have severely inhibited our ability to fulfill our mission as a non-profit theatre serving the Staten Island community.”
Hmmmm. As for the State Theatre, they claim having Griffin perform has caused safety concerns. It’s said the Bergen PAC in NJ has yet to make a final decision as to whether they’re keeping Kathy’s scheduled show.
Oof. No wonder the Emmy winner has hired attorney Lisa Bloom. And while Kathy’s been laying low since apologizing for the photoshoot, the controversial celeb is planning to address the issue more in depth at a press conference alongside Miz Bloom.
According to Lisa, the press conference will be held today (June 2) at 9 a.m. PT, where Kathy’s “true motivations” for the shoot will be revealed and Griffin will also discuss the “bullying” she has endured “from the Trump family.” See the full statement for yourself (below)!
