Not only can you not behead the POTUS in effigy, you also can’t besmirch him on social media apparently.
CNN has fired Reza Aslan in the wake of controversy over his angry tweet about Donald Trump.
The news giant announced in a statement on Friday:
“CNN has decided to not move forward with production on the acquired series Believer with Reza Aslan. We wish Reza and his production team all the best.”
In case you didn’t see the Twitter rebuke, it was over Trump’s recently renewed promotion of a Muslim travel ban in the wake of terrorist attacks. Aslan tweeted at the time:
Aslan apologized the next day for his language, thought obviously not for the sentiment:
I should not have used a profanity to describe the President when responding to his shocking reaction to the #LondonAttacks. My statement: pic.twitter.com/pW69jjpoZy

We have to figure this hardline approach is CNN trying to make sure no one thinks they’re biased. Which is of course pointless because those who think Trump is the honest one and the media is a massive conspiracy are not going to look at facts.
Well, you know what? We don’t have to answer to any corporate bosses. So we’ll say it for him.
Donald Trump IS a piece of shit, and he IS a stain on the presidency, and he IS an embarrassment to humankind.
Reza himself answered the canning with utmost class, tweeting:
Now that is a response the POTUS should learn from.
But Reza is a Muslim, so we can’t imagine Trump actually showing him any respect at all. Yeah, we said that too. Being your own boss is great!
