But it looks like Kelly can use all the press she can get — because based on her recent viewership, the former Fox News host has been a “ratings disaster” since moving to NBC!
The journalist’s interview with Erin Andrews scored just 4.35 million viewers on Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, which was tanked by 60 Minutes‘ much healthier 7.66 million viewers in the same time slot.
While Kelly has only been at her new home for a few weeks, these lukewarm numbers apparently already have NBC panicking about the reporter’s upcoming debut on the Today show.
A source told RadarOnline a poor daytime performance for Kelly threatens the entire back half of the Today lineup, explaining:
“NBC is freaking out. They didn’t pay her $15 million for this. They are now worried that her numbers will be bad when she joins the 9 am hour of Today. If Kelly tanks at 9 am she will also bring down Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb at 10am.”
No! Leave those wine guzzlers be, Megyn! Ha!
The peacock network is already scrambling for ways to give the 46-year-old a much needed ratings boost, specifically trying to land her some major “gets” as interview subjects.
The source continued:
We’d definitely tune in for that — but can Kelly really not bring in ratings without a huge guest opposite her?
Apparently not, as the source added:
“NBC needs big gets to increase Megyn’s numbers. People are not tuning in to watch Megyn without huge guests.”
Yikes. Calling President Trump…
