What an intense situation.
On Wednesday evening, the MedStar Washington Hospital Center gave an update on House Majority Whip Steve Scalise as he recovers from a shooting, which has left him in “critical condition.” Oh man.
The medical center shared in a recent statement:
“Congressman Steve Scalise sustained a single rifle shot to the left hip. The bullet traveled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs, and causing severe bleeding. He underwent immediate surgery, and an additional procedure to stop bleeding. He has received multiple units of blood transfusion. His condition is critical, and he will require additional operations.”
How awful, but we’re just grateful he’s alive. As we previously reported, Rep. Scalise and four others were rushed to the hospital after a shooter opened fire at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia. The targets? 25 GOP members of Congress who were practicing for an upcoming game against their Democratic peers.
It’s said one of the patients rushed to the hospital was also the gun-wielding culprit, named James T. Hodgkinson. Donald Trump revealed in an address on Wednesday that the 66-year-old shooter has since died. Speaking of POTUS, following his speech on the tragedy, he and his wife Melania Trump paid a visit to the hospital center in order to check on the House Majority Whip.
And, in typical Trump fashion, the Commander-In-Chief took to Twitter to confirm his visit with the Republican leader. The Trumpster wrote:
Just left hospital. Rep. Steve Scalise, one of the truly great people, is in very tough shape – but he is a real fighter. Pray for Steve!

At least, in this instance, Donald is using his Twitter account for good. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones during this scary time.
