Melania Trump is NOT enjoying her time in Hamburg, Germany.
As we previously reported, FLOTUS is overseas to accompany her husband, Donald Trump, as he attends the G20 meeting alongside other world leaders. As POTUS is off busy shaking hands with Vladimir Putin, the First Lady was supposed to visit different sites in Hamburg — including a visit to a climate change center and a river cruise with the spouses of other G20 summit attendees.
However, these plans have since been tabled as Miz Trump is trapped in her hotel. Reportedly, the protests against the summit have made it so the police are unable to provide proper clearance for Melania, especially if she attempts to explore Hamburg. Eek.
Melania’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham confirmed this report to CNN, as she noted:
“Hamburg police couldn’t provide clearance for us to leave.”
Mrs. Trump hasn’t let this situation damper her spirits as she took to Twitter on Friday and wrote:
Grammar errors aside, Trump’s sentiment is a kind one.
In case you were unaware, the protests started on Thursday evening ahead of the economic world leaders’ pow wow. 12,000 people are believed to be in attendance at the demonstration. According to the Associated Press, the ralliers’ hope to achieve “borderless solidarity instead of nationalism.”
The city of Hamburg has 20,000 officers on hand in order to “to patrol the city’s streets, skies, and waterways.” We’re sure there we’ll be plenty of more updates about the summit so be sure to ch-ch-check back HERE!
