It’s been five years since the boardwalks of New Jersey have been polluted by the juiced-up, boozed-down, bronze-skinned meatballs that made up the cast of MTV‘s Jersey Shore.
Sure, the reality program was one of the network’s highest rated shows, and became a cultural phenomenon for its National Geographic-style documentation of the aggression, celebration, and mating rituals of shore-goers.
In fact, the towns that hosted the show in its heyday were so against the destructive squad coming back, the cast had to get sneaky about the entire Situation!
Last month, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi shared a tease of the reunion show on Instagram — and soon, reports of Jenni “J-WOWW” Farley, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, and Vinny Gaudagnino filming at Point Pleasant Beach followed.
But one thing is for shore… actual shore residents are horrified of the cast migrating back to their old stomping grounds!
An application for a permit to film in Seaside Heights, which is where the cast first resided in 2009, was rejected. The cast was also denied a permit to shoot inside boardwalk restaurants because managers felt it would generate “bad publicity.”
So the gang needed to get creative, and applied to film in neighboring Asbury Park under a different project name! Town Mayor John Moor admitted to the Asbury Park Press:
“No, we did not know they were coming as they applied under ├óΓé¼╦£Roadtrip Reunion.'”
Ha! Looks like they clawed their way back in!
Don’t expect this reunion to wash up on MTV though — a spokesperson for the cable channel said what’s being filmed isn’t an MTV property. There’s no word on if the project will be shopped around or end up landing on Snooki and J-WOWW’s web series on Awestruck.
Are U excited for the reunion? Will the cast be just as crazy now that they’re older and wis- uh… older?
