A rising star ain’t never had a friend like Twitter!
So when reports came out that Guy Ritchie was having a hard time finding a lead for his live action version of Aladdin, fans of the 25-year-old had to point out the glaring apparent omission from the casting net.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Disney has opted not to go with early frontrunners Dev Patel and Riz Ahmed because they’re too well-known, and they’d rather cast a fresh face, specifically one of Middle Eastern descent.
They’ve considered and reportedly tested Achraf Koutet, Mena Massoud, and George Kosturos — but quite a few fans seem to know who they want.
Ch-ch-check out some of their reactions (below)!
Avan jogia IS Aladdin! I’m pretty sure about it

I heard that Guy Ritchie is having problems to find actors who interpret Aladdin and Jasmine. What is he waiting for to call them?… pic.twitter.com/U7rROOc02S

Y’all are sleeping on Avan Jogia and Jade Thrilwall for Aladdin. THEY BOTH CAN SING AND LOOK SIMILAR TO THE CHARACTERS AND CAN ACT pic.twitter.com/l78ef0dZwB

Do YOU agree Disney should be looking at the Victorious star??
