Kid Rock is taking his run for Senate seriously!
As we previously reported, the All Summer Long artist announced his intention to run for one of Michigan’s U.S. Senate seats on Wednesday. Obviously, this news was met with some skepticism as the rocker, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, is known for his chart toppers not his political influence.
Not to mention, many questioned Kid Rock’s career shift as his candidacy site redirects to a Warner Bros. Records page if you click on any of the merchandise. Of course, some believed that proved the hitmaker’s announcement was just a promotional stunt. Huh.
Nonetheless, Ritchie vows his candidacy is no joke. Amid rumors that his run for Senate is a hoax, the A-lister clapped back:
“Once again the press is wrong. First of all, I’ve got 15 days from my announcement to file paperwork with the FEC! Second, I’m not signed to Warner Bros!!! – which simple fact-checking would have revealed. I have recently worked out a unique deal with BMG, Broken Bow, CAA and Live Nation to release music ON MY TERMS. Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I’m planning on putting out music during mine and IT ALL STARTS TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT. It’s not a hoax, it’s a strategy and marketing 101! No plans for an album or anything else that has been the usual norm in the music business OR politics├óΓé¼┬ª..”
For anyone who still has doubts, Rock’s rep explained that his client completed a deal with Warner Music Group back in 2015, thus the business remains the 46-year-old’s merchandise company. Makes sense!
And it seems Rock’s senate intentions has his would-be opponent, Democratic Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow sweatin’! According to reports, the politician has already sent out a fundraising email which noted:
“We don’t know if this is real or just a publicity stunt. But after Donald Trump‘s surprising win last year, we need to act fast.”
Girl’s got a point! Oh, and Debbie’s already come out swinging as she wrote on Twitter:
I know we both share a love of music. I concede he’s better at playing guitar and I’ll keep doing what I do best: fighting for Michigan. https://t.co/CUaGqPu7AB

You tell ’em, Stabenow! However, the Michigan native has since hit back at the democrat, as he quipped:
“Senator Stabenow and I do share a love of music, although probably not the same kind. I concede she is better at playing politics than I am so I’ll keep doing what I do best, which is being a voice for tax paying, hardworking AMERICANS and letting politicians like her know that We the People are sick and tired of their bullshit!”
Those are certainly fighting words! It looks like we’ll be following Michigan politics for the next several months!
