And it turns out, his ticket sales for his last leg haven’t been doing so well!
According to Billboard, AEG Presents sources say the final 14 shows weren’t selling that well, which they believe is because he was continuing to play stadiums without a new album since Purpose. In case you forgot, Biebs’ latest album was released in November of 2015, so it’s definitely been a while!
Only one of his 14 remaining shows sold out, and for others, there were large sections of the stadiums going unsold. Not to mention, thousands of tickets were being resold on other sites.
Still, the AEG sources were willing to move forward with the tour, but didn’t put up a fight when Justin decided to cancel:
“If the sales were better, we might have pushed a little harder to try and convince him to finish the tour.”
No hard feelings, as one insider explained “this tour made so much money.”
A source agreed with the 23-year-old needing time for himself too:
“He just played 154 shows. He made millions of dollars. He needs to take a break.”
There’s been no word on whether AEG Presents will be filing a claim for insurance considering they also agreed with Bieber to cancel the tour.
Hopefully the pop star made the right choice!
