ICYMI: ESPN Airs Controversial Fantasy Football Sketch Resembling A Slave Auction & This NFL Star Is ‘Speechless’

This is so messed up!

ESPN is coming under fire after airing a controversial fantasy football sketch on Monday!

In case you missed it, the Disney-owned sports network put up a clip of a white man auctioning off football players, like Odell Beckham Jr. (above), to the highest bidders.

The bidders were a predominantly white crowd… so it’s not hard to see why people are calling out ESPN for a segment that looked like a slave auction!

OBJ tweeted in response to the effed up clip on Tuesday:

While it was his clip that went viral, white players Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski were also auctioned off.

ESPN has since apologized, releasing a statement to USA TODAY Sports:

“Auction drafts are a common part of fantasy football, and ESPN’s segments replicated an auction draft with a diverse slate of top professional football players. Without that context, we understand the optics could be portrayed as offensive, and we apologize.”

In light of the violent white nationalist demonstrations in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend, it’s hard to believe they thought this was appropriate.

Are U about their apology??
