Considering the heavy subject matter surrounding the ever present racism in our country — we can see why people are scratching their heads!
In fact, the film’s director Jordan Peele and actors from the wildly popular movie are offering their two cents, too!
Ch-ch-check the reactions (below)!
‘Get Out’ is a documentary.

But I will say this Jordan Peele wrote a masterpiece that has horror, drama, suspense and comedy in it… And it all was good so hey maybe it just fits in a bunch of categories!!! This my first go around so hey lol… #GetOut

Black people look big mad that Get Out has been submitted to the Golden Globes as a comedy. I don’t think anybody took half a beat before dropping their hot take. So here’s mine. I took two beats first. ├░┼╕ΓÇÖΓǪ 1/

When people complain that a film like “Get Out” has been categorized as a comedy for awards season, what they’re really saying is that comedies are not important. That’s a very short-sighted view.

Dear Golden Globes,
There are a lot of white people in your mentions agreeing w ur decision to mark Get Out as a comedy,
VERY few Black people doing so.
That’s Clue #1

Get Out is brilliant satire. i think it makes sense in the comedy category. does anyone else agree?

Get Out actually was a comedy but maybe it was hard for some of y’all to laugh for a reason

Guys. Don’t be mad about this. All that matters is Get Out is being considered. In order to be nominated for a Globe, a film HAS to be classified as either Drama or Comedy. So, as silly as this seems, it’s good news. https://t.co/p8rOAn0qnY

Some of y├óΓé¼Γäóall are doing a lot with “Get Out” being placed in a comedy category. The studio and the people behind the film want awards and concluded that is their best shot. The end. God bless.

My 💥 take:
Get Out is a comedy. It’s a social satire that makes its points through clever observation and dryly amusing indictments of socially accepted stereotypes.
It’s also a horror film.

“Get Out”, is a movie about:
• Systematic Racism
• Interracial Relationships
• Black Horror Movie Stereotypes
• White Privilege
… all in one.
Definitely not a comedy.

White people are REALLY insistent today that calling GET OUT a comedy somehow trivializes it. It makes me realizes they didn’t understand it and they also look down on comedy as a genre.
