The key to Patton Oswalt‘s heart? Lasagna.
At least it was for his new bride Meredith Salenger, who introduced herself to the comedian by messaging him about a delicious dish he missed out on.
On Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor shared the story of his “Victorian-like” romance with his now-second wife. After bailing on a dinner party thrown by their mutual friend Martha Plimpton, Oswalt said Salenger contacted him the next day to tell him he “missed some amazing lasagna last night.”
Over the next few months, the two would write to each other “about life, politics, books” until they finally met face to fact in late May. By that time, Oswalt says he was “so head over heels” for his new lady love.
The rest was history. The couple announced their engagement in July and tied the knot at the Jim Henson Studios on November 4 — about a year and a half after Oswalt’s first wife Michelle McNamara died unexpectedly in her sleep.
Now, the comedian is happier than ever and still has that newlywed glow. He even wore his wedding suit on Kimmel! Ch-ch-check out the clip (above) to hear his heartwarming story.
