As accusations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and misconduct sweep across Hollywood, the latest entertainer to be affected is one we all know very well: Ryan Seacrest.
On Friday, a former E! wardrobe stylist came forward with allegations that Seacrest behaved inappropriately towards her during the host’s work at E! News nearly a decade ago.
And while the actual contents of her specific accusation have yet to be made public, Seacrest himself is going public ahead of it all to try to get ahead of the story with his claims of innocence.
In a statement released to the media, Seacrest maintains he did not commit what he’s being accused of, as he blasts “these reckless allegations” from the stylist (below):
“Recently, someone that worked as a wardrobe stylist for me nearly a decade ago at E! News, came forward with a complaint suggesting I behaved inappropriately toward her. If I made her feel anything but respected, I am truly sorry. I dispute these reckless allegations and I plan to cooperate with any corporate inquiries that may result. I treat all my colleagues with kindness, dignity, and understanding, as this is a principle that’s core to who I am. Throughout my 25 years in the entertainment industry, the majority of my co-workers have been women, and I’ve endeavored to foster a positive work environment of mutual respect and courtesy, as that’s how I believe it should be. I’m distraught that anyone or any situation would call that into question. I’m proud of my workplace reputation, and believe my track record will speak for itself. I’m an advocate for women. I will continue to support their voices.”
Pretty strong statement!
Of course, Seacrest didn’t address specific parts of the woman’s allegations — which, again, were made privately in the last few days.
The alleged victim apparently directed her legal team to make a request for a “substantial financial” amount for her silence, though Seacrest and his lawyers outright denied her any money whatsoever.
We’ll see where this goes from here.
