Russell Simmons wanted Terry Crews to forgive the agent who allegedly groped him.
The hip-hop mogul, who has recently been accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old model in 1991, emailed the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star after he claimed that Adam Venti grabbed his crotch at a party in February 2016.
In the November 3 email, Simmons urged Crews to “give the agent a pass” and “ask that he be reinstated.” Venit has been put on leave from WME after Crews went public with his sexual assault case.
Crews responded to Simmons’ pleas by publicly sharing the email on his Twitter, telling the Def Jam Recordings cofounder “NO ONE GETS A PASS.” He wrote on Sunday:
Message Russell Simmons sent to me regarding my sexual assault case against Adam Venit of @WME:
The allegations against Simmons came out hours before Crews’ post, apparently shedding light on the 60-year-old’s dismissive attitude towards the alleged groping.
Earlier Sunday, the Los Angeles Times published a bombshell article in which former model Keri Claussen Khalighi alleged Simmons assaulted her in 1991.
Khalighi claimed that she went out for dinner with Simmons and fellow accused assaulter Brett Ratner. The three allegedly returned to Simmons’ apartment where the rap mogul made her undress. She said Simmons tried to force her to have sex with him, but eventually gave up and pressured her into oral sex.
Simmons denied the “horrendous” allegations on Sunday, saying everything that happened between him and Khalighi “was completely consensual and with Keri’s full participation.” He released his full statement on Twitter:
Sounds like he isn’t looking for a pass, but a complete redaction. We’ll see if the model responds to Simmons’ innocent account of their night together.
We applaud Crews, Khalighi, and all the other brave victims coming forward at this time.
