Like many Today veterans, Natalie Morales was in shock upon learning of Matt Lauer‘s firing.
As you surely know, the seasoned newsman was given his pink slip after an unnamed colleague came forward with claims he acted in an “inappropriate sexual” manner.
Morales, who has had a complicated work history with Lauer, made sure to vocalize her support for the victim who came forward with the complaint.
During Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live, the 45-year-old host noted:
“I woke up to the news like everyone this morning ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ just in shock. The TODAY show, of course, has been my family for 16 years now and it is difficult. I think everyone is saying how difficult it is to process the news. I have personally dealt with rumors in the past for years that were hurtful to me, my family ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ they diminished my hard work. I’ve addressed those rumors head-on in the past. That is not the story today. The story today is the courage of a colleague who did come forward, and when and if she wants to tell her story publicly, I’m sure she will. But it did take a lot of courage for her to come forward. It was no doubt a very painful decision.”

Well said. We’re Natalie has mixed feelings reporting on this controversy as, back in 2016, Morales was accused of having an extra-marital affair with Lauer.
Although both parties vehemently denied the gossip, the newswoman left her position at Today to begin a role at Access Hollywood Live.
At the time, Natalie dubbed the gossip that she left Today because of an affair as “damaging, hurtful, and extremely sexist.” Hmmm, we wonder if there is tea to spill now that Matt has been given the boot??
