On Friday, Fox released a statement saying they have “temporarily halted production on Bohemian Rhapsody due to the unexpected unavailability” of director Bryan Singer.

The Queen biopic — starring Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury — has been shooting in England.

While a rep told BBC Singer is dealing with “a personal health matter” concerning him and his family, sources to The Hollywood Reporter paint a different picture.

Reportedly, the X-Men filmmaker failed to return to set after Thanksgiving break, worrying producers who thought about potentially replacing him.

Additionally, Singer has been repeatedly tardy to set, greatly angering the cast and crew. Reportedly, during a “non-showing,” a cinematographer had to step in and do Bryan’s job.
