As it turns out, sexual misconduct accusations are thicker than blood — at least in the case of Adam Horovitz.

The Beastie Boys member says he believes and supports the women who have come forward accusing his father Israel Horovitz of sexual misconduct.

In a New York Times article published Thursday, nine women — including former au pairs, assistants, and actresses who all worked with the playwright — made claims against the 78-year-old, many saying he forcibly kissed and fondled them.

None of these claims were a shock to Adam, who told the publication:

“I believe the allegations against my father are true, and I stand behind the women that made them.”

Not only does the rapper believe his father’s accusers, he used to date one of them.

Jocelyn Meinhardt, who dated Adam in high school, claims Israel raped her at his family home in the summer of 1989. The then-19-year-old was working with the playwright on a fellowship at the Gloucester Stage Company in Massachusetts.

The first night, she alleged, Israel drove her to his family home in his convertible. He locked the door before kissing and fondling her. She began to cry. Israel then led her to his bedroom, where she said he raped her.

The playwright and mentor, who is married to his third wife, apologized for any pain he’s caused, but said he remembered the encounters differently. He explained in a statement:

“[While I have] a different memory of some of these events, I apologize with all my heart to any woman who has ever felt compromised by my actions, and to my family and friends who have put their trust in me. To hear that I have caused pain is profoundly upsetting, as is the idea that I might have crossed a line with anyone who considered me a mentor.”

You’d think such a talented wordsmith would craft a more genuine apology├óΓé¼┬ª

In light of the new allegations, the Gloucester Stage Company has cut ties with Isreal and apologized for their previous response to allegations. In 1993, the company ignored whispers of misconduct, describing the women who had written them as “tightly wound.”

According to the accusers, these types of encounters occurred as recently as last year. Head over to the Times to read each woman’s devastating account.
