But Danny Masterson, star of hit sitcom The Ranch, has been accused of rape by four women, and the streaming giant doesn’t seem to have an opinion at all.
Well, not officially anyway. One exec had a very specific take — which he unknowingly shared with one of Masterson’s accusers!
An executive named Andy Yeatman is the coach of a children’s soccer team in Los Angeles in his free time. They had a game over the weekend in which, small world, one of Masterson’s accusers was married to the coach of the opposing team.
The woman told HuffPost about the encounter, saying when she was told Yeatman worked for Netflix, she marched over and asked him directly (without telling him who she was) why Netflix hadn’t acted on this.
He told her Netflix takes sexual misconduct allegations seriously but in this case the women aren’t convincing, saying:
“We don’t believe them.”
She says she was stunned to hear this. That’s when she hit him with the bomb, saying:
“I’m one of them.”
After the game, Yeatman approached her to let her know he had no idea who she was — da doi.
The woman, who has chosen to keep her name out of the press, then told him:
“I hope no one ever says that to your daughter.”
She also says she told him Netflix was making a mistake they would pay for later, saying:
“Netflix is going to regret this, this is a mistake, they’re going to see.”
To which she says he responded:
Netflix later confirmed the woman’s story, all except the “we’ll see” comment, releasing a statement saying:
“While he was coaching a youth soccer match today, Mr. Yeatman ├óΓé¼ΓÇó a Netflix kids’ programming executive ├óΓé¼ΓÇó was approached by a stranger who did not identify herself or explain her connection to Danny Masterson. Mr. Yeatman’s comments were careless, uninformed and do not represent the views of the company. Further, he would have no insights into decision making on The Ranch. We are aware of the allegations against Danny Masterson and we are following the current investigation, and will respond if developments occur.”
They’re “following” it. Interesting.
We guess then they’ve seen the same reports of law enforcement’s “overwhelming” evidence that we have. Huh.
