How embarrassing.

After quite the legal battle, north Texas officials have finally released the dash cam footage from Randy Travistroubling 2012 drunk driving arrest. In case you forgot, back in August ’12, the country crooner was booked by law enforcers after they found him unclothed and smelling of alcohol — in the middle of the road!!

It’s said the industry vet had crashed his car and was belligerent with Highway Patrol. Oof.

Eventually, the I Told You So singer pleaded guilty to the incident and received two years of probation, a $2,000 fine, and a 180-day suspended jail sentence. While the drama seemed to be long behind Randy, in September, he filed to have the video blocked from being released. And, now that we’ve seen the vid, we know why Randy didn’t want it to see the light of day…

In the clip, which a judge ruled did not violate Travis’ right to privacy, the country legend is heard verbal attacking the officers. At one point, Randy noted:

“I pray to God that he will have a cancerous growth that infects his bones and every part of his body.”

So savage. Per the troopers, Randy’s blood alcohol was twice the legal limit.

Unsurprisingly, Travis’ legal team has since hit back at the release of the tape. In a statement for the press, a rep shared:

“Randy’s behavior was extremely altered the evening of his arrest due to the state of his mental health, and substances in his body, causing him to do and say things that were entirely out of character. He suffered a severe concussion and sustained numerous other injuries from the crash.

Notwithstanding the release of the tape, Randy and his team will have their day in court regarding the ongoing lawsuit against the State of Texas in relation to the violation of his civil rights.”

We find it interesting that, despite the content of the footage, Randy and co. are trying to maintain the moral high ground. His spokesperson continued:

“Randy Travis is well-known to be a loving, caring person who is respectful of everyone, a video that shows anything otherwise only underscores that he was absolutely not himself. Randy is deeply apologetic for his actions that evening. A man of integrity with a good heart, Randy does not and will never condone these types of actions that distort the true beliefs of Randy Travis and his entire family.”

Wait, are they forgetting that Travis was arrested a handful of times in 2012?? Huh.

Be sure to take a look at the dash cam footage for yourself (below). Do YOU think this tape release is a violation of Randy’s privacy???
