Um… should we not sleep HOLDING our phones then..?
The California Department of Public Health issued an unexpected warning on Thursday reminding people that — though causation has not been definitely confirmed — studies have suggested that long term cell phone use may be linked to:
-lower sperm counts
-headaches and effects on learning and memory, hearing, behavior, and sleep.
The best suggestion for safety the CDPH has is to keep your phone at a distance, like using a headset while talking (check), setting the phone somewhere away from you while downloading or streaming (how does that work?), and carrying it in a bag rather than your pocket or inside your bra (yes, it really says that).
But the most surprising one to us was something we’d never even considered!
“Don’t sleep with your phone in your bed or near your head. Unless the phone is off or in airplane mode, keep it at least a few feet away from your bed.”
If you sleep with your phone inches away from your head like so many of us do, mayyyyybe time to rethink that.
