Every parent’s nightmare…

According to the Chicago Police Department, two daycare workers at the Children’s Learning Place in Logan Square have been arrested after one of them allegedly burned five two-year-old children — three girls and two boys — with a hot glue gun while the other watched and laughed.

Sources say surveillance video on December 1 shows Lizandra Cosme (pictured above), 32, applying the glue on the children while Susana Gonzalez, 27, was laughing nearby, according to CBS Chicago.

Cosme reportedly brought the glue gun from home to use on a Christmas project. Additionally, she was reportedly watching 16 children at the time of the alleged incident.

As reported by ABC 7 Chicago, prosecutors said in court on Monday:

“Each of the child victims winced and some whined at the hot glue gun application.”

Cosme’s defense attorney claims she simply “screwed up” and had no malicious intent, citing her 12 years working with children.

The 32-year-old was arrested Sunday and charged with five counts of aggravated battery of a child under 13 years old causing great bodily harm. She was denied bail, and is scheduled to appear in court on December 26.

Gonzalez was charged with five misdemeanor counts of causing the circumstances of child endangerment.

According to daycare spokeswoman Lissa Druss Christman:

“The well-being of our students is paramount. Upon learning of the alleged incident, we notified DCFS immediately and terminated two of our employees. We are currently working with investigators.”

So, so disturbing…
