Could Rosie O’Donnell Be In REAL Legal Trouble For Tweet Offering GOP Senators $2 Million In CASH To Vote Against GOP Tax Bill?!

Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell might be in a little hot water after she offered millions in cash to senators who vote against the “criminal” tax bill on Twitter on Tuesday. Eep.

The 55-year-old’s effort to be on the right side of history was met with some criticism for making a public offer many (read: conservative media) are calling bribery. The alt-right especially is having a field day!

But is she really in trouble?

According to the law for bribery of a federal official, anyone who “directly or indirectly, corruptly gives, offers or promises anything of value to any public official” in exchange for an action, such as a vote, is in violation.

But Rebecca Roiphe, a New York Law School professor, says the actress doesn’t have anything to worry about because her plea was simply “political commentary.”

She told Daily News:

“It’s political commentary. What she’s trying to do is show these people had already been bought off.”

The former prosecutor added:

“It all rides on what her intent was in writing that tweet. The point of this whole string of these tweets. What she’s trying to do is fake-offer a bribe to point out that they’ve already been politically been bought.”

It would basically be impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a famous comedian wasn’t being satirical with a tweet like this.

Honestly, we think our legal system has bigger fish to fry. *cough*Russia*cough* Right??
