Here’s How The Roseanne Revival Will Incorporate Sarah Chalke — AKA Becky 2!

It wouldn’t be a Roseanne reunion without Becky 2!

Producers knew they didn’t want to revive the sitcom without Sarah Chalke, who famously took over the role of Becky Conner in season 6 after Lecy Goranson went to college.

Of course, showrunners couldn’t have both actresses playing Becky in the reboot — the show already joked about its multiple Beckys in the original run — so, they cooked up a way to get Chalke into the action. Specifically, with her on-screen doppelganger!

According to EW, Chalke will be playing a middle-class married woman named Andrea who hires Becky (Goranson) to be her surrogate. Writers hinted at a plot twist that not only leads to some drama for the Conners but also shows how important both women were to the beloved sitcom.

Chalke, unsurprisingly, loves the new role showrunner Bruce Helford created for her. She told EW:

“I love the part! It’s such a fun part to play.”

The Scrubs alum revealed that exec producers Tom Werner and Sara Gilbert first reached out to her about joining the reunion — an offer, she said, that couldn’t come at a better time:

“I was so excited to hear that it was coming back. I think the timing is perfect. I think it’s exactly what is needed right now. Right now when the country is so divided, I really think it’s a show that brings people together. The writing is so unbelievable. It’s so funny.”

Aside from Chalke’s change-up, viewers will see not much has changed for the rest of the Conner family. Helford, who has returned to his post after serving as showrunner in 1992-1993, promised:

“You will feel the emotion from seeing that set again. It will be an extra-special experience.”

We can’t wait! ABC has scheduled an hour long premiere for Roseanne at 8 p.m. EST on March 27.
