We love how gangsta Jeopardy! can be!
Monday’s all-new episode saw one of the harshest judgments we’ve ever seen on the game show!
It all came down to a clue about a Coolio classic in the “Music & Literature Before & After” category, and the pronunciation of one tiny syllable.
Ch-ch-check out the $3200 error (below)!
Let Nick’s mistake be a lesson to us all. In 2018, you gotta keep it gangsta at all times. Never Gangster #Jeopardy pic.twitter.com/NMO7QsAfyI

After seeing some debate online, the judges posted their official reasoning for the ruling on Jeopardy.com, writing:
“Although Nick’s response of “Gangster’s Paradise Lost” was initially accepted, the hard R sound caught the ear of one member of the onstage team, who immediately followed up with a quick check.
It turns out that “gangsta” and “gangster” are both listed separately in the Oxford English Dictionary, each with its own unique definition.
Nick changed not only the song’s title, but also its meaning ├é┬¡├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ making his response unacceptable.”
Harsh but fair.
