Never say the royals can’t travel on a budget!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rang in the new year with an lavish getaway in France, where they were said to be “partying like tycoons.”

But the pair didn’t exactly fly to their destination in royal style — they flew in economy class seats like a couple of commoners!

On New Year’s Eve, Harry and Meghan reportedly boarded the morning British Airways flight before any other passengers and headed straight to the back of the plane, right next to the rear bathrooms(!).

The 33-year-old prince was apparently slumped down next to the window with a baseball hat pulled over his face. His bride-to-be was sitting next to him in a black beanie, also trying to remain unnoticed. That plan did not work.

Regular passengers immediately noticed the pair, according to a source, as they were taking up three rows of economy seats on BOTHS sides of the aisle, despite only being accompanied by three “edgy and nervous” bodyguards.

We get it — you need your space!

While their short flight from London’s Heathrow airport to Nice wasn’t exactly first class, the two made up for it once landing by boarding helicopters for a 7-minute skip to Monaco’s Monte Carlo.

From there, the pair spent two nights in the principality and were seen boarding helicopters again on Tuesday morning.

Though their trip to Monaco was kept as private as possible, thanks to a massive security detail, one source told DailyMail.com the two partied like rockstars:

“Monte Carlo is party central at this time of the year and the word is that the British Royals really enjoyed themselves. What’s certain is that they were partying like tycoons on New Year’s Day. Fun around Monaco is never understated, and always costs a fortune.”

What a fancy way to kick off 2018 — and the fancy celebrations will only continue!

Now that they’ve returned home, Harry and Meghan are back to work planning the wedding of the year in the months leading up to their May nuptials. Rest up, you two!
