Alex Trebek Reveals He’s On Medical Leave From Jeopardy! Following Necessary Brain Surgery

Alex Trebek is taking a small break from quizzing trivia nerds.

On Thursday, the Jeopardy! host revealed that he’s on medical leave from his hosting duties, as he’s recovering from surgery relating to a subdural hematoma. The “slight medical problem” — Alex’s words, not ours — occurred after Trebek suffered from a fall a couple months ago.

After doctors discovered the blood clots, surgery was performed and the 77-year-old TV personality spent two days in the hospital. He has since returned home to continue his recovery and has assured fans that “the prognosis is excellent.” Phew!!

In fact, in his video announcement (above), the industry vet promised to be back filming Jeopardy! episodes “very, very soon.” We’re so glad to hear that he’s going to be okay.
