Lena Dunham is starting fresh.
As we previously reported, the Girls creator is back on the market after splitting from her longtime love, Jack Antonoff. Per reports, the twosome called it quits back in December as they “were growing apart.” What a bummer, especially since we thought they were going to get married.
It’s said the two artists parted on mutual terms, and it seems that Dunham is now looking to the future. While the 31-year-old has yet to publicly confirm the split, she did allude to the breakup on Instagram.
On Tuesday morning, the Golden Globes winner shared:
Lena didn’t stop there though as she also took to IG live to express her gratitude to her fans for their “love” and support.”
Although the controversial starlet didn’t get specific about her breakup with the hitmaker, she did talk about “beginnings and ends.” Oh, and she sort of addressed the shade Tessa Thompson threw her way about her bandwagon involvement in the Time’s Up campaign.
“The thing that I wanted to say was just that, you know, when you’ve had this job as long as I’ve had… and you’ve caused some mayhem at times, the internet doesn’t necessarily have the same power that it used to… I just feel so lucky that I’ve gotten to be a part of so many amazing moments, and movements, in my career. And I feel REALLY at peace with the fact that there are moments when you’re the hero, and moments when you’re the villain… It’s a journey that has strengthened me in ways that are really, really powerful. I’m wearing this ring that Jack gave me, umm, and I’ll always wear it. Because love is a really cool, powerful, eternal thing. It doesn’t have to be defined the way, we in Western culture, define it as beginnings and ends.”
Well, it looks like this split is what’s best for Lena. The Bleachers singer has yet to address the sad reports.
We’re wishing them both only the best as they navigate the tricky waters of singledom. Fingers crossed mutual bestie Taylor Swift doesn’t get caught in the middle of any dramatics!!
