Michael Douglas refuses to be next…

On Tuesday, the actor spoke to Deadline to preemptively deny alleged accusations from a former female employee who worked for him over 30 years ago.

In December 2017, right before the holidays, the Wall Street star said he received a message from his attorney that The Hollywood Reporter was circling a story about the aforementioned woman.

Allegedly, the unnamed ex-employee says the now-73-year-old used colorful and raunchy language in front of (but not at) her, blackballed her from industry jobs after she was fired, and masturbated in front of her.

While he apologizes for any offensive language he may have used, Kirk Douglas‘ son vehemently denies the latter two claims. The thespian said:

“As far as blackballing her, that was completely untrue. She was a lady who was involved in development at my company, and we just didn’t have a good development record in the time she was there, so I just moved on. I never blackballed her. If people from the industry called me to ask about her, I would have been honest, but I never blackballed her. Finally, masturbating in front of her? I don’t know where to begin. This is a complete lie, fabrication, no truth to it whatsoever.”

After the woman allegedly tried to shop the story to other outlets including Variety, Douglas had no choice but to come forward.

“I had the choice of waiting for a story to come out, one that will clearly get picked up by other newspapers and magazines, and then I have to sit there and try to defend myself. Or, try to share with the public, a little ahead of the story, my thoughts and concerns. Again, I am sorry if I used coarse language with my friends. But this is really debilitating. It can have a large effect on my career. And also, I think it really sends a message out.”

Out of everything, the film legend is concerned with how these claims will affect his family, especially his kids who are “scared and very uncomfortable.”

“And I tried to figure out, why the hell would somebody do this? The part that hurt the worst is having to share something like this to your wife and your children. My kids are really upset, has to go to school worrying this is going to be in some article about me, being a sexual harasser. They’re scared and very uncomfortable.”

As to her motive, Douglas believes the “blogger” is potentially “trying to get a book deal,” or to possibly seek revenge.

“The woman, it turns out, is a blogger. We’ve had to do some quick research, and she has mentioned my name sometimes in her blogs. Nothing terrible. It leads me to believe she either has or is trying to get a book deal. I can’t believe that someone would cause someone else pain like this. Maybe she is disgruntled her career didn’t go the way she hoped and she is holding this grudge. It has caused tremendous stress to me for something I believe I have nothing to regret or feel responsible for.”

When asked by the website, “Are you saying that you never harassed this woman, or anyone else, in such a salacious manner as she has alleged to a journalist?” he replied:

“Absolutely; that’s exactly what I am saying.”

No one in Hollywood is safe…
