In case you haven’t heard, Montecito, California and other parts of Southern California are in crisis after mudslides, caused by heavy rainfall, occurred this week. As you know, these same areas were recently hit by wildfires, which left the burnt ground unable to absorb as much water.
So far, at least 15 people have died while others are missing and hundreds await rescue after being trapped by debris in Montecito’s Romero Canyon area.
On Wednesday, Oprah Winfrey gave her followers a tour of the damage on her estate via Instagram. You can see the TV queen knee-deep in mud as she walks around surveying the property with helicopters flying overhead looking for people to rescue.

What a day! Praying for our community again in Santa Barbara. Woke up to this blazing gas fire. then swipe left to see how deep the mud is in my backyard. Helicopters rescuing my neighbors. Looking for missing persons. 13 lives lost. #Mudslides.A post shared by Oprah (@oprah) on Jan 9, 2018 at 5:03pm PST
Thanks everyone for your prayers and concern. My property is fine. Some mud , and minor damage that pales in comparison to what my neighbors are going thru. #mudslides🙏🏾A post shared by Oprah (@oprah) on Jan 10, 2018 at 8:48am PST
Ellen DeGeneres, who has a house nearby, also shared:

I’m devastated for the families who lost loved ones. I’m grateful to all the rescue workers.
