Simone Biles truly loves her body.

However, this personal achievement for the gold medalist occurred only AFTER she overcame some insecurity hurdles. During a recent interview with Today, the Olympian detailed the brutal bullying she faced from her peers over her super athletic physique. How awful.

On the mean comments she received from her classmates, Biles shared:

“People would say mean things at the time. They used to call me a ├óΓé¼╦£swoldier,’ which didn’t make me feel the best. I wore sweaters or jackets all year long to cover my arms.”

TBH, it sounds like those little brats were simply jealous of the now American treasure. Simone eventually grew to love her body as she spent more time around fellow gymnasts, specifically Aly Raisman. She continued:

“As gymnasts, we look similar to each other, so we’ve helped each love our bodies because it helps us with what we do. Everybody looked the same, had the same muscular build and we could all do things that other athletes couldn’t do.”

Hear! Hear! In regards to how the Final Five captain helped her with her body image issues, the 20-year-old athlete added:

“Aly Raisman helped me a lot with my body-confidence issues and helped me learn to love how I look. She’s taught me a lot along the way, but most of the time it’s just the same message: love yourself.”

And that she does!! In fact, Simone now knows that her opinion is the only one that truly matters at the end of the day.

The superstar concluded:

“To me, healthy body image is when you feel confident with yourself ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ inside and out. If you love your body, then that’s all you can do. It doesn’t matter what anybody else says.”

You tell ’em, girl!! Here’s hoping young girls everywhere are seeing this inspiring message — which you can also watch (below)!
