As you surely know, The Disaster Artist actor has been hit with a sexual misconduct scandal as multiple women accused the A-lister of sexually exploitative behavior. While many have spoken out against the Freaks & Geeks alum, James has found an unexpected ally in Miz Judd.
During a conversation with BBC‘s HARDtalk on Saturday, Ashley revealed she was actually quite pleased with James’ response to the troubling allegations.
ICYMI, the Divergent actress stated:
“I think that what James said is terrific. And I think that we’ve all behaved, at a certain level, unconsciously, and done things that were insensitive, inappropriate, without necessarily understanding that they were. I mean, we’ve all operated with a certain amount of tone deafness, and I like the culpability, and we have to have restorative justice.”
As Ashley was one of the first people to speak on the record about Harvey Weinstein‘s predatory behavior, she has been praised as a silence breaker and can be credited for contributing to the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements. Thus, Judd’s support of Franco is HUGE.
“This is about men and women being all together and having a more equitable and just workplace, home life, social spaces. I mean, we know that when women are empowered in the workplace and are in decision-making positions that workplaces have better financial outcomes and there’s less harassment when there is more diversity. And it takes that kind of individual accountability to collectively make the change on a large scale.”
Following his big win at the Golden Globes, the 39-year-old stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and Late Night With Seth Meyers, where he denied the allegations and vocalized his support for the Time’s Up campaign.
It’ll be inneresting to see if this scandal affects whether or not The Disaster Artist gets any Oscar love…
As always, be sure to check back for any and all updates!!
