Aziz Ansari has responded to that sexual misconduct allegation.
As we previously reported, following the Master Of None actor’s big win at the Golden Globes, the 34-year-old was hit with a troubling claim. In an interview with babe, a woman (who has chosen to go by the pseudonym Grace) opened up about an unsavory experience she had with the Parks and Recreation alum.
Specifically, Grace accused Ansari of pressuring her into performing several sexual acts as he “ignored clear non-verbal cues” that she did not want to get physical. The woman chose to speak out after Aziz was photographed wearing a Time’s Up pin at the Globes.
The comedian has since weighed in on the controversy and declared that he believed the “sexual activity” he engaged in was “completely consensual.”
In a statement, he told People:
“In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual.”
It looks like Aziz and James Franco have a couple things in common now. He continued:
“The next day, I got a text from her saying that although ├óΓé¼╦£it may have seemed okay,’ upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said.”
Regardless of the recent scandal, Aziz is vehement that he stands by the Time’s Up movement. The filmmaker concluded:
“I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue.”
Hmmmm. We wonder how Netflix will respond to this denial???
We mean, they’ve already fired Kevin Spacey and Danny Masterson. Could Ansari be next??
