Drama is going down behind-the-scenes at Megyn Kelly Today.

The blonde newswoman’s hour of the Today show has been hit with claims that it’s a “completely toxic” work environment. Why??

Well, according to one telling email obtained by, staffers (specifically young female assistants) are “abused and harassed” by higher ups who have a tendency to “scapegoat” and go on expletive filled rants. Man, oh man.

It’s said the accusatory email was sent to colleagues after the show’s head writer, Kevin Bleyer, was fired for making complaints to NBC News President Noah Oppenheim and the company’s HR department. Specifically, Kevin issued complaints against executives Jackie Levin and Christine Cataldi.

In his farewell email to staff, Bleyer included the detailed dossier of complaints which he had previously sent to HR. He wrote:

“I’m sad to say ├óΓé¼┬ª the executive incompetence continues ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ as does the dysfunctional management, abusive treatment, maddening hypocrisy, staggering inefficiencies, acidic and deficient communication, and relentless scapegoating. Jackie Levin persists in creating a toxic and demeaning environment, and Christine Cataldi enables and reinforces it.”

He went on to accuse Cataldi of regularly calling her assistant “an idiot” and said he was labeled a “fucking whiner” by Levin when he offered suggestions for the show. This is, of course, troubling as the alleged workplace behavior directly contradicts what Kelly’s been preaching on her show.

Kevin even addressed the hypocrisy, as he continued:

“It is a special absurdity ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and what some find a hard-to-swallow injustice ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that as a team we’ve been lauded for covering harassment stories daily on air, while the staff producing those stories feels so embattled and bullied themselves. As a result, veteran staffers are looking for the exits ├óΓé¼┬ª Others have told me they’d ask to be reassigned elsewhere within NBC. I should add that many of those who have confided in me have made it plain: sensitivity training will not suffice. Their feeling is you can’t change these tigers’ stripes.”

Per Bleyer’s email blast, only a “number of talented people” are keeping Megyn’s show afloat since those at the executive level are “amateur hour.” Reportedly, Levin and Cataldi have even had conversations about pushing out those who’ve complained.

The complainant has since declined to comment on the email. Regardless, an insider supported Kevin’s allegations as they told the publication:

“The working environment on Megyn Kelly Today is completely toxic. It is hypocritical that a show that has positioned itself as a safe place for those who are victims, has staff that feel like they are being harassed and abused. Megyn harps on about people having a voice and shining a light in dark places, so that’s what Kevin did. Here’s the problem, Megyn’s show doesn’t practice what she preaches – you do that on her show, you get fired! It’s a joke.”

Eek. Thankfully, the tipster revealed that they “don’t believe” Megyn “had any idea” about the drama going on. The source added:

“We hope that Megyn sees this and speaks up. She has the power to change this and have Jackie removed from the show.”

Excellent point!! NBC has since gone into crisis mode as they had a spokesperson issue the following:

“Jackie and Christine are being attacked unfairly. They are both excellent and experienced producers, and have the full support of everyone here. He was let go for one reason only: he was the wrong fit for this role, as a comedy writer at a morning news broadcast.”

Not to mention, other NBC staffers have suggested that Kevin was NOT “well-favored” among his colleagues and was allegedly sexist himself. One person close to the situation relayed:

“He has a clear ax to grind… Sadly, these kinds of distorted complaints are all too often alleged against women in management.”

This is just the latest controversy for the Today show as the program previously dealt with Matt Lauer‘s sexual misconduct scandal and respective ousting. We doubt anyone’s itchin’ to work there these days…
