As a principal actor on one of the most beloved shows out right now, Gaten Matarazzo has a lot to smile about.
But with flashing those pearly whites on Netflix comes a bigger responsibility for the 15-year-old: representing the small population of people who share the same genetic disorder, cleidocranial dysplasia.
The Stranger Things star has previously spoken out on his rare condition, which caused him to be born without a collarbone and has affected the growth of his teeth. Now, he’s using his platform to shed more light on the disorder.
On Wednesday’s taping of The Doctors, Matarazzo revealed he is working with nurse practitioner Kelly Wosnik, founder of CCD Smiles, to help bring awareness to the condition.
The foundation raises money for people whose insurance does not cover medical procedures and surgeries — bills that Matarazzo can relate to, as he has undergone two surgeries and four tooth extractions in dealing with his cleidocranial dysplasia.

We love when actors use their influence for a good cause — keep smiling, Gaten!
