Salma Hayek has been personally affected by Jill Messick‘s suicide.
As we previously reported, the producer and studio executive took her own life on Wednesday amid her connection to Harvey Weinstein‘s ongoing sexual misconduct scandal. Per Messick’s loved ones, Jill was “broken” to see her name in the headlines in association with former client Rose McGowan‘s rape accusation against the Hollywood heavyweight.
Although Jill died during controversial times, there are many in Tinseltown who are mourning her untimely passing. Hayek proved this to be true with a touching tribute on Instagram on Friday. In case you were unaware, Jill worked closely with Salma on Miramax‘s Frida as she was the executive producer.
The 51-year-old industry vet shared:
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Jill Messick. Jill was Frida’s executive at Miramax. She always navigated the frustrating and hostile environment of Miramax with grace and elegance. She became my ally and my friend. In the many years we worked together I witnessed her professionalism wile being pregnant, a mother and through incredible pressure. She was a girl├óΓé¼Γäós girl and a romantic when it came to fighting for the underdog. I will forever be grateful for her support and kindness. My heart is with her husband Kevin, her precious children Jackson and Ava and her friends and family, that like me cherish her memory. What beautiful words. We’re sure Jill’s family appreciates the support during this trying time.
As for Rose, she’s remained noticeably quiet amid this tragedy. However, as Rose has previously claimed that she told her former manager about the assault (an allegation Messick denied), we have a feeling McGowan is following the “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” mantra.
Nonetheless, our thoughts are with the deceased’s loved ones right now.
