What should’ve been a happy day was tainted by a tragedy as 17 people were killed in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day.
The gunman, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, has since been apprehended by the authorities and hit with 17 counts of premeditated murder. Amid news that the mass shooter is expected in court later today (February 15), it was announced that President Donald Trump would be delivering remarks about the Parkland, FL atrocity.
This speech by POTUS comes after the Commander-In-Chief tweeted about the assailant’s mental health problems, even implying neighbors and classmates are to blame for not reporting him as a “big problem”:
So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior. Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!

Here’s what he further had to say on the matter…
While addressing the nation, Trump offered up his prayers and encouraged others to “answer hate with love, answer cruelty with kindness.” This seemed somewhat hypocritical as he’s infamous for bullying others on Twitter. But, hey, that’s just our opinion.
Shockingly, 45 made no reference to guns while talking about the MASS SHOOTING. Instead, he vowed to make schools safer with the help of the nation’s governors and attorney generals. He noted:
“It is not enough to simply take actions that make us feel like we are making a difference; we must actually make that difference.”
Okay… But how?? Especially if he isn’t acknowledging that gun violence is rampant problem in the United States.
The president also announced his plans to head to Florida to visit with Parkland community during their time of grief. As for children who may be afraid to go to school, the 71-year-old politician relayed:
“I want you to know that you are never alone and you never will be. You have people who care about you, who love you, and who will do anything at all to protect you.”
We’d believe this sentiment more if, again, Trump said anything about gun control. Smh.
