As we reported, in a GQ article published on Thursday, Brendan Fraser accuses former Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk of sexual assault in 2003 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Allegedly, Berk grabbed The Mummy star’s “ass check” and touched him “in the taint” after a HFPA luncheon.

On Thursday, the organization released an official statement saying they are looking into the now-49-year-old’s claims. They said:

“The HFPA stands firmly against sexual harassment and the type of behavior described in this article… Over the years we’ve continued a positive working relationship with Brendan, which includes announcing Golden Globe nominees, attending the ceremony and participating in press conferences. This report includes alleged information that the HFPA was previously unaware of and at this time we are investigating further details surrounding the incident.”

After the alleged incident, Fraser says the HFPA made sure the two were never in the same room again (a claim that Berk denies), and that Berk later apologized in a letter.

While Berk admits to sending Fraser a letter, he told GQ:

“My apology admitted no wrongdoing, the usual ‘If I’ve done anything that upset Mr. Fraser, it was it was not intended and I apologize.”‘

Fraser will appear in the upcoming FX series Trust.
