Chris Harrison is making NO apologies for the way ABC handled Arie Luyendyk Jr.‘s dumping of fianc├â┬⌐e Becca Kufrin.
As we reported earlier, The Bachelor season 22 finale had a shocking end when the race car driver turned real estate agent dumped his final rose recipient over unresolved feelings for runner up Lauren Burnham. To make matters worse, Arie chose to break up with Becca in the most savage way — by FILMING THE WHOLE ENCOUNTER.
So rude. And we’re not the only ones disgusted with the way ABC televised Kufrin’s heartbreak. Countless fans SLAMMED the network for the disrespectful way they handled Arie’s change of heart. Here’s a taste of what was said on Twitter:
How did this breakup end up on camera? Seems like a private conversation. We don├óΓé¼Γäót belong in this conversation….but im still watching #TheBachelor

Right here—this is where #Arie becomes irredeemable. It isn’t that you changed your mind, you asshat. It’s that you allowed cameras to film you destroying someone. #TheBachelor

We get that when you go on #TheBachelor you are signing up for a lot of weird, silly, emotional things. But she did not sign up for this. #TheBachelorFinale

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
With hate circulating around the internet, host Harrison moved quickly to defend ABC’s production decision. During a visit with Good Morning America, the longtime host noted:
“There was no way Arie was going to do this and look great. In my opinion, you don’t get to just tell the fairytales… “That was wild. 16 years of this and that was breathtaking. It’s going to take a little bit of time to process all of that even for myself.”

Same, Chris. Same.
Sadly, the drama is only going to continue tonight (March 6), as the After the Final Rose special airs at 8 p.m. EST. *Sigh*
