You may have heard Bruno Mars was accused of cultural appropriation yesterday.
No, it wasn’t for something he chose to wear or say this week; it was for, well, being Bruno Mars.
So… what genre of music do they think he should be “allowed” to perform? Hmm…
The controversial convo made Twitter explode — in Mars’ defense!
See all the appreciation, evidence, and exasperation on #TeamBruno (below)!
I woke up to Bruno Mars slander. Not here for it. Ya’ll not about to ruin my Friday. How about ya’ll focus on the real culture vultures? pic.twitter.com/Hul0k7RvSB

So do y’all ever read the articles where Bruno Mars credits black artists completely and acknowledges his privilege or do you just decide to tweet assumptions about this man all day? Asking for a friend.

Bruno Mars has given us nothing but amazing music and thanked Black people in the process. Imagine a world where culture isn’t shared. Is that what we really want? Think about it.

If we go far enough down this road of “Bruno Mars can’t do ‘Black’ music cuz he’s not ‘Black'” how soon r we gonna say I shouldn’t have played the European classical music I studied growing up because I’m not white. Musical genres r meant 2 b enjoyed by all us. TWITTER PLZ RELAX

I just want to be practical here.
Are people saying that Bruno Mars shouldn’t sing? Or that when he sings he needs to somehow whiten that shit up and sound more like Rod Stewart.
I’m dead serious.
What type of music is this man “allowed” to do?

Bruno Mars trending is a good example of fake controversies- 5 or 6 folks don’t like what they think of as his cultural appropriation & 100k people who love Bruno Mars get pissed off at them. It’s a conversation about the vast majority being aghast, not a real controversy.
