Chance The Rapper Calls Out Heineken & Other Companies For ‘Purposely Putting Out Noticably Racist Ads’ For Publicity — He Has A Point!

Chance The Rapper

Chance The Rapper raises a great point!

The 24-year-old rapper joined the chorus on social media to speak out against the undeniably racist Heineken Light TV commercial in which a bartender passes three African American women to hand the low-calorie drink to a Caucasian woman across the crowd. “Sometimes, lighter is better,” the ad later says. Sigh.

The Blessings artist took to Twitter after seeing the ad with speculation that companies like Heineken are purposefully creating controversial ads to create buzz. All publicity is good publicity?

Valid points.

Bjorn Trowery, Director of External Communications at HUSA, has since said:

“For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows there’s more that unites us than divides us. While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns.”

The phrase “missed the mark” seems to be getting a lot of use these days.
