Despite many refusing to watch the sitcom because the title character supports Trump (much like the actress who plays her), the premiere episode exceeded expectations by raking in a whopping 18.2 million viewers!
And because we all know Trump loves two things — ├óΓé¼╦£yuge TV ratings and ├óΓé¼╦£yuge TV ratings because of him — it doesn’t come as a shock that POTUS personally congratulated the comedienne on her network TV success.
In an interview with GMA on Thursday, the actress said receiving a call from Trump was “pretty exciting,” noting the conversation was mostly about television and the “huge” ratings. She dished:
“I’ve known him for many years and he’s done a lot of nice things for me over the years. He really understands ratings and how they measure things.”
It’s a shame that wisdom still hasn’t translated to presidential ratings. But hey, you can’t teach an old cheeto new tricks.
While a large chuck of potential viewers straight up refused to watch the revival because of its star’s political beliefs, Barr believes the premiere resonated with the many Americans who are now living in a politically divided household. She continued:
“The idea that people can agree to disagree is kind of missing from everything. That’s what we need to do as a country, is figure out what we don’t like, talk to each other and discuss how we’re going to get it changed or fixed. I really hope it opens up civil conversation between people instead of just mudslinging.”
A nice sentiment, but we think most of America would rather stay divided than be united by Roseanne.
