Back in 2017 during an appearance on The Norte Show, Cardi B revealed Nicki Minaj‘s verse on their song MotorSport was different from the original version.

During a recent interview with Beats 1, the Pink Friday rapper touches upon the controversy by commenting:

“The first interview she did, it just hurt me because she looked so aggravated and angry, and the only thing she kept saying was, ‘I didn’t hear that, she changed her verse.’ I was like, ‘What?'”

Based on the interview, some fans thought Nicki was trying to say that she never changed her verse on the track with Migos.

On Thursday, DJ Akademiks went on social media and played Nicki’s original verse, which is in fact different from the final version. As seen here:

In the original verse, Nicki raps, “If Cardi the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi,” possibly implying that she is responsible for Cardi’s success.

Of course, the lyric is now, “If Quavo the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi,” where fans just think Nicki is giving a shoutout to Migos member Quavo.

That same day, Nicki went on Twitter to clarify the story. Apparently, Atlantic Records asked her to remove Cardi’s name-drop — per the Bodak Yellow rapper’s request — and she complied:

#NickiDay has been QUITE eventful…
