Zayn Malik Says He Hoped To Be In Love With Gigi Hadid ‘For The Rest Of My Life’ As He Teases A Lemonade-Esque Album!

Zayn Malik wanted to be with Gigi Hadid until the end of time.

Sadly, their relationship didn’t last quite that long — but their love will live on forever in the 25-year-old’s song Let Me, which he wrote when they were still together.

The former One Direction star phoned in to On Air With Ryan Seacrest Friday to promote his new single, revealing the track was written “about seven or eight months ago,” before his split with the 22-year-old model.

But even while penning the “most loverboy” track he’s ever written, Zayn admitted he knew the sun was setting on their relationship. He dished:

“I was in love├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and I think that’s pretty evident. I was aspiring to be in love with someone for the rest of my life and the rest of theirs, as we all do. Things change and we move forward in life. Times change, but that’s what I was thinking when I wrote it.”

Zayn knows better than most that all good things (celeb couples, superstar boy bands) must come to an end — and that’s all the more reason to appreciate it in the moment!

He continued:

“We go through experiences so we have memories and stories and things to write down and contemplate and think about. You get to really put your experience into something. It should be remembered forever.”

And it will… in the form of Zayn’s yet-to-be-titled sophomore album!

He spilled about the upcoming record:

“I’ve been working on the album for just over a year; I wrote everything myself. I am super proud of it. And at the minute, I’m in rehearsals for my tour. I’m really excited for that and to finally get out there and perform onstage. It’ll be really cool.”

Hopefully he’s been resting up!

The album doesn’t have a release date yet, but Zayn teased that more music is right around the corner:

“More music is coming soon. The album will be following that. I’m doing a whole special thing with the videos. I’m not sure if anyone’s seen, but Let Me actually goes with Dusk Till Dawn. There is going to be a whole continuation├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥like a video project├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥so I’m working on that at the minute. That’s a little bit of secret information for you there├óΓé¼┬ª I’m doing that, getting all the singles out, and just seeing how it lines up timing-wise, and then we’re going to drop the album after that.”

Wait. A continuous “video project”??? Is this album going to be Zayn’s Lemonade!?

Maybe Gigi should be watching her back after all…
